How to Use Wax Melts

How to Use Wax Melts

Wax melts are a flameless way to enjoy luxurious fragrance throughout your home. Follow our expert guide to get the most from your Dream Candle wax melts.

What You'll Need

  • A wax melt burner (electric or tea light)
  • Your favorite Dream Candle wax melts
  • Tea lights (if using a tea light burner)

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Choose Your Burner

Electric burners: Safer and more convenient, with consistent heat. Perfect for bedrooms and offices.

Tea light burners: Create ambient lighting while releasing fragrance. Ideal for living spaces where you want both scent and atmosphere.

2. Add Your Wax Melt

Place 1-2 wax melt heart in the dish of your burner. Start with one heart and add more if you want a stronger scent throw. Make sure your burner is deep enough for when the wax is in liquid form.

3. Turn On or Light

For electric burners, simply switch on. For tea light burners, place a lit tea light in the base beneath the dish.

4. Enjoy the Fragrance

Your wax will begin to melt within minutes, releasing beautiful fragrance for 6-8 hours. The scent will fill your space without an open flame.

Tips for Best Results

Maximize Scent Throw

  • Use in smaller to medium-sized rooms for optimal fragrance
  • Keep doors and windows closed to contain the scent
  • Place burner in a central location away from drafts
  • Use gentle air circulation: A ceiling fan on low or gentle air movement helps distribute the fragrance more evenly throughout the room

When to Change Your Wax

Replace the wax when you no longer smell fragrance, typically after 8-12 hours of use. The wax will still be present but the scent oils will be depleted.

How to Remove Used Wax

Method 1: Turn off burner and let wax cool slightly (still soft). Use a cotton ball to absorb and wipe out the wax. Please be very careful when doing this.

Method 2: Let wax cool completely and harden, light a tea light underneath for a few seconds. Gently pop out the solid wax disc, blow the tea light out and soak up any excess melted wax with some kitchen roll.

Safety Guidelines

  • Never leave a tea light burner unattended
  • Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials
  • Place on a heat-resistant, stable surface
  • Don't add water to the wax
  • Allow burner to cool completely before moving

Fragrance Layering

Create your signature scent by using different wax melts in various rooms, or combine complementary fragrances in the same burner for a custom blend.
